Get BPA Out Of Your Cabinets

There is little doubt at this stage that there are safety issues surrounding Bisphenol-A based products.   If you have ever seen the containers it is transported in you will know it carries dire warnings so it is not a reach to believe the end products it is used in could also be dangerous.  Stores began pulling products with it almost immediately but there is another potential source of these mugs.
We're heading into the summer and I know at least in our office we are getting a ton of trinket type items from promotional items providers on the internet and in person like Geiger.  Guess what?  Many of these items are still loaded with BPA and that means they might be a gift that keeps on giving.  The problem with products like BPA is they build up in your system over time and tend to be more of a concern as products age.  Be careful with these items and do some legwork to see if they are free of the chemical.   If you insist on using a freebie with it dispose of it at the first sign of wear.  At least a few of these providers have stated they no longer offer these products on their company sites.  A recent press release by an online promo provider goes so far as to say they won't offer them for sale at all.   Whether they follow through on that promise remains to be seen but it's a good start.   The next step would be to pull all lead based promo items but whether that gets done or not remains to be seen.  If the feds can't check products on store shelves it's hard to conceive that they would be able to follow up with thousands of suppliers operating out of every corner of the country.
